Led by the Spirit 02/14/2011
I just wanted to say thank you to those of you who come to the Sacristy to serve even when you're not scheduled - that's so good of you! In fact, that's really special, because Jesus doesn't want us to only do things just because we have to - he also wants us to do things out of generosity and love. It's good to do things even when we're just fulfilling an obligation, but when we anticipate the obligation - that is, when we do something good before being told to do it - then we are doing something really great. I know that Erin and Tim Hannafey covered for Servers who did not show up for the 9:00 Mass this past weekend, and that Emmanie Byas and Kavene Maize also served at the 10:30 for servers that did not show, and I just wanted to recognize them for their generosity. I know that a lot of you volunteer to serve even when you're not scheduled - and so thank you too! And I hope that all of you feel free to serve at any Mass, even if you are not scheduled. God bless you! See you at the next Friends of the Altar gathering on March 1st. father rob Fall Training 10/28/2010
Just a quick "thank you" to all of you who were able to make it to the Fall Training! I hope you are all happy to be serving at the altar. I know that I - along with the other priests here at Holy Name of Mary - are certainly happy that you are! Allow me to encourage you to continue showing up for the Mass to which you are assigned. Last week, there were no servers for a couple of the Masses, which saddened me - I know that some of you are unable to make it to a Mass sometimes, and I am happy that you ask for a replacement, but please try to come to the Mass to which you are assigned. Thank you all - and God bless you. - father rob As Catholics - Back to School 08/30/2010
Whether you're returning to Catholic school or public school, remember that you are a Catholic. Before you are anything else, you are a Catholic Christian. And this means that everything you say and do in school represents the Catholic Church. But do not be frightened by that! Instead, see it as an opportunity to bring Jesus and his Church to other people. This means that as Catholics we DO NOT gossip. As Catholics we DO NOT curse. As Catholics we DO NOT cheat. And as Catholics we DO NOT lie. So what do we do? Well, as Catholics we say only the good things that really help people. As Catholics we find other ways of expressing our anger, like closing our eyes for a minute and waiting before speaking. As Catholics, we always speak and act honestly. And as Catholics we always tell the truth. God bless you all! And thank you so much for being Altar Servers - I know it's not always easy and you don't always feel like serving. But you all do such a great job and you inspire the people of the parish. - father rob BBQ was hot! 07/19/2010
I'm not sure which was hotter, the BBQ or the day itself - but what a nice time. Thank you all so much for coming. And a special thank you to all of the parents who helped out and offered their skills. I was prepared to cook - I promise - but maybe it's better that I got some help from the pros. Pictures from Mrs. Tanedo's camera are coming soon, so check back here soon to see them! God bless you all - till next time! God bless you all. - father rob Splish Splash was AWESOME - of course! 07/02/2010
Another extremely fun-filled Splish Splash trip! Thank you so much to everyone who came along, especially to the chaperons for joining us - and a huge thank you to all of the parents who braved the bus ride - even though it rained in the bus! I hope everyone had fun! God bless you all. - father rob |
